Frequently Asked Questions

What are your clinic cancellation and rescheduling policies?
  • Cancellation Notice: Any cancellation or reschedule made less than 48 hours of your scheduled appointment time may result in a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the scheduled visit. This allows us to offer the time slot to another patient who may be waiting for an appointment.
  • Rescheduling: We understand that unexpected situations may arise, and we will do our best to accommodate your request to reschedule your appointment. However, repeated rescheduling or last-minute changes may be subject to dismissal.
  • No-Show Policy: We allow a 10-minute grace period for all appointments. After that time, we will charge a no-show fee, which will be equal to 50% of the scheduled appointment.
  • Emergency Situations: We understand that emergencies happen, and we will take such situations into consideration. If you experience an unforeseen emergency that prevents you from attending your consultation, please notify us as soon as possible, and we will work with you to find a suitable solution.

What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is a way of practicing healthcare that asks “why is this happening?”, not just “how do we manage the symptoms?”

Instead of treating each symptom separately, we look at them as clues that something deeper is out of balance. We consider how your genetics, environment, stress, sleep, nutrition, hormones, and lifestyle all interact to affect how you feel.

Using a detailed health history plus appropriate lab testing, we build a personalized plan to support your body’s natural ability to heal. This often includes a blend of conventional medicine and evidence-based nutrition, stress management, movement, sleep support, and other lifestyle tools to help restore balance and prevent future problems.

What specific conditions do you treat?

Functional Reset NP takes a functional, root-cause approach to treating women’s health and hormone imbalances, metabolic concerns and weight loss challenges, and a wide range of digestive issues. You can explore the Conditions Treated page for a more detailed overview.

Where do you see patients in your practice?

Functional Reset NP currently works with patients virtually via telemedicine throughout the state of Oregon. In-person consult appointments in the Rogue Valley may be available upon request. Please reach out to inquire.

Will virtual consults limit my access to things like testing?

Not at all! Virtual assessments are conducted via our virtual office space and do not limit our access to diagnostic testing. Most testing is completed at home or in a local lab. We will order the test kit(s) to be drop shipped to your home (usually within several business days) or provide you with the correct paperwork to complete the testing at a LabCorp lab draw station convenient to you

Results are reviewed together during a follow-up visit.

Do you accept insurance?

Our office does not bill insurance. Functional Reset NP is a cash-pay, concierge-style practice, which allows us to offer longer visits and more individualized care without the restrictions of insurance "standard of care".

Unfortunately, when practitioners participate with insurance carriers, they enter into a contract that allows the insurance companies to dictate what services will be supplied, limiting the quality of care that we believe you deserve. As costs continue to rise, insurance reimbursement has fallen, forcing most practitioners to see more and more patients a day, keeping office visits very brief.  We believe this approach of seeing patients for shortened visit times does not allow us to create the personalized plan of care that is necessary in a wellness and lifestyle approach.

What are your consultation fees?

All patients begin with a Wellness Clarity Consult, an investment of $595, which includes a comprehensive blood panel. Additional specialty testing (when recommended) varies and will always be discussed before ordering. Visit the Services page for current pricing and program options.

How is the care I receive at Functional Reset NP different from the care I would receive with my primary care provider?

Functional Reset NP focuses on root-cause, wellness-focused care — using deeper history, targeted labs, and lifestyle strategy to understand patterns driving symptoms. We don’t replace primary care; we complement it. You’ll still want a primary care provider for general medical needs, urgent concerns, and complex condition management.

How soon can I expect to see results?

Results in functional medicine can vary widely based on the individual and the specific health concern. It's important to understand that functional medicine is a holistic and long-term approach to health. Some individuals may experience significant changes within a few months, while others may notice more gradual improvements as we delve into the underlying causes of their health concerns. For the metabolic optimization focus, patients typically start seeing noticeable changes within 8-12 weeks. Our commitment at Functional Reset NP is to work collaboratively with each individual to achieve sustainable and positive health outcomes.

What do I need to do before my first appointment?

Once you book your Wellness Clarity Consult, you will receive intake paperwork. To make your visit as focused and personalized as possible, please complete intake forms at least 72 hours before your appointment. If you need more time, we’re happy to help you reschedule.

You will receive a lab requisition via email within 24 hours after your appointment is scheduled. We use LabCorp to streamline the process and ensure a convenient experience for you. Your consult is scheduled ~10-14 days after draw to ensure your results have returned for review when we meet.

Do you work with children?

No, at this time Functional Reset NP does not work with patients under 18 years old.

What does functional testing look like?

We use many different advanced functional tests to evaluate various concerns/issues. All of these tests are drop-shipped to your home for at-home collection - no in-clinic visit required, and then sent via mail to the lab.

Examples include:

  • GI MAP, which  is a comprehensive stool test that looks at gut health, microbiome balance, and digestive capacity.
  • SIBO breath test looks for small intestine bacterial overgrowth. You drink a carbohydrate solution then collect breath samples that measure the levels of hydrogen and methane gases in your breath to reveal if you have an overgrowth.
  • DUTCH test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) is a comprehensive hormone panel that analyzes urine samples collected over 24 hours, and provides a detailed, in-depth look at sex hormones (like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), cortisol (stress hormone) patterns, and their metabolites to identify imbalances.
  • Micronutrient testing measures how well your body is absorbing and utilizing vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other essential nutrients inside your cells over the past 4–6 months.

Will you be my primary care provider?

You will still need a primary care provider for general medical needs and complex condition management - we’re here to complement that care with focused support for gut health, hormone optimization, and metabolic/weight goals. Functional Reset NP is designed for stable, motivated patients who are ready to implement meaningful nutrition and lifestyle changes.
